Yamauchi - Salt-Shrinking Ramie Chambray Shirt (No Collar) [White]

All parts are double-layered with smooth cotton cupra lining, and all stitching is done on the reverse side so that you can feel the texture of the fabric.
This is a classic Yamauchi item with a dry texture like washi paper and random wrinkles that give it a Japanese feel.

Salt-shrunk ramie chambray (Omi region)

This rare ramie chambray uses top yarns both vertically and horizontally and has been subjected to a strong salt shrinkage treatment.

It features strong wrinkles that are different from Yamauchi's standard salt-shrunk cotton linen.

Salt shrinking creates shadows in the fabric, further emphasizing the depth of the top threads, transforming it into a powerful textile.

Salt shrinking process (Yamanashi Prefecture)

This is a processing method that uses caustic soda (sodium hydroxide) to give the fabric a unique wrinkled and uneven texture. Because it is a very time-consuming process, it is not suitable for mass production and is done entirely by hand.

Also, because the chemicals used are dangerous, factories that can process them at high concentrations are very rare.
